Djokovic stands as the most successful tennis player in history, having surpassed Rafael Nadal by two titles and Roger Federer by four, while remaining the only active competitor among them.

The seven-time Wimbledon victor is recognized for his rigorous dietary and training practices. He follows a primarily plant-based diet, steering clear of gluten and refined sugars, and emphasizing whole foods such as fruits, vegetables, beans, and nuts. Recently, in a TikTok video with American sports journalist Graham Bensinger, Djokovic disclosed an intriguing aspect of his morning routine. When asked about his daily habits, he explained, “When I get up, I start with warm water and lemon to help my body detoxify, and then I have celery juice on an empty stomach.”

While this routine might seem unconventional to some, Djokovic’s choices are backed by scientific evidence. Warm lemon water is a natural source of Vitamin C, essential for various bodily functions and immune support. It also acts as a potent antioxidant, neutralizing harmful free radicals and promoting cellular health. Consuming it in the morning can benefit the digestive system. A 2019 study indicates that long-term consumption of this mixture may help prevent gut aging, with polyphenols from lemon maintaining balanced gut bacteria.

Celery juice, another staple in Djokovic’s routine, offers comparable benefits. Rich in Vitamin C, it also contains Vitamins A and K, along with potassium, folate, and magnesium. Vitamin K is crucial for bone health, while other nutrients support muscle recovery and blood flow. Beyond the scientific aspects, Djokovic asserts that these drinks provide mental clarity and energize him, setting a positive tone for his day.
