Infosys and Tennis Australia have joined forces to introduce AI-driven innovations for the 2026 Australian Open, aiming to enhance fan engagement through insights, accessibility, and responsible innovation. This collaboration seeks to transform the fan experience, empower players and coaches, and expand digital accessibility in the world of tennis.
As a global leader in digital services, Infosys has unveiled new advancements powered by its AI suite, Infosys Topaz™, celebrating an eight-year partnership with Tennis Australia. These innovations are designed to increase access to the sport, enhance both on-ground and digital experiences, and demonstrate responsible AI innovation on a large scale.
Innovative Features for AO 2026
MatchFeel: A Tactile Tennis Experience
MatchFeel is a groundbreaking accessibility feature for blind and visually impaired fans, allowing them to experience live tennis through touch. By converting real-time match data into tactile feedback, a magnetic ring traces the ball’s movement, while vibration patterns convey speed and direction, enabling fans to feel the game as it happens.
Rally: The AI-Powered Mascot
Visitors to the Infosys Fan Zone can interact with Rally, a humanoid robot powered by generative AI. Rally offers engaging experiences such as Serve Me a Fortune, which provides tennis-themed predictions, and Selfie Mode for capturing memorable photos. It operates under strict Responsible AI guidelines to ensure a safe fan experience.
Keys to the Match: Simplifying Game Insights
This AI-driven feature delivers three key insights per player before each match, translating complex data into straightforward cues like serve dominance or rally strategy.
Enhancements to Existing AO Technology
Gen AI Stadium: An immersive experience that allows fans to design custom virtual tennis courts using speech-to-image AI and engage in VR gameplay.
Infosys Match Centre: Provides AI-powered experiences, including real-time AI Commentary and AI Shot of the Day, which creates highlight videos for media coverage.
The Infosys Fan Zone at Melbourne Park is environmentally conscious, with a fully offset carbon footprint and recyclable structures. Additionally, Infosys and Tennis Australia will host the Future Leaders Program, equipping students with digital skills and exposure to technology at the Australian Open.
Andrew Groth, Executive Vice President, Asia Pacific, Infosys, stated, “Our partnership with Tennis Australia sets a global standard for AI in sports. At AO 2026, we’re introducing new ways for people to enjoy tennis through responsible AI and human-centered design.”
Craig Tiley, CEO of Tennis Australia, commented, “Infosys helps us elevate the Australian Open with technology that enhances the experience. New accessibility initiatives and AI capabilities make the tournament more inclusive and engaging.”
