In a groundbreaking move for the world of tennis, Infosys, a leading digital services and consulting firm from India, has partnered with Tennis Australia to unveil a series of AI-driven innovations for the Australian Open 2025. This collaboration, now in its seventh year, aims to elevate the tennis experience by integrating cutting-edge technology to engage fans, support players, and enhance digital interaction.
At the heart of these technological advancements is Infosys Topaz, an AI-first suite that leverages generative AI technologies. This suite is designed to transform how fans interact with the sport, provide players and coaches with powerful tools, and broaden the scope of digital engagement in tennis. Some of the standout features include:
Beyond Tennis
Introducing the world’s first generative AI-powered tennis league, this innovative feature allows fans to engage with 16 AI-created virtual players across eight teams. Participants can train their teams and compete in AI-generated tournaments throughout the year. Known as The Slam That Never Stops, this league is tailored to attract the younger Gen Z demographic while maintaining a secure digital environment through a responsible AI framework.
AI Commentary
The Infosys Match Centre will debut AI Commentary on Australian Open digital platforms, offering real-time insights during matches. By utilizing advanced large language models, this feature will provide concise and engaging updates at every pivotal moment of the match.
VR AI Stadium
Fans visiting the Infosys Fan Zone at Melbourne Park can immerse themselves in a new VR AI Stadium. Here, they can design and play on imaginative virtual courts, featuring nature-inspired and themed designs, enhancing the fan experience with creative interactivity.
Infosys is also equipping the Australian Open with sophisticated video analytics and machine learning tools. These resources offer players and coaches access to detailed post-match reviews and pre-game video analysis. Additionally, the AI Shot of the Day feature facilitates rapid content creation for social media, spotlighting extraordinary on-court moments.
The Infosys Fan Zone is designed with sustainability in mind, boasting a fully offset carbon footprint and recyclable structures. Furthermore, the Future Leaders Program, supported by Infosys Springboard, provides participants with digital learning opportunities and exposure to generative AI technologies.
Andrew Groth, Infosys executive vice president for Asia Pacific, expressed, “We are committed to pushing the boundaries of technology to enhance fan engagement and player performance. Our latest generative AI innovations are set to redefine the experience for fans, players, and coaches alike.”
