Alcaraz Praises Sinner Ahead of ATP Rotterdam Debut

Carlos Alcaraz has recently shared his thoughts on Jannik Sinner, praising the Australian Open champion’s remarkable form as “extraordinary.” As the top seed for the upcoming ATP event in Rotterdam, Alcaraz made these comments during his first media appearance since his quarterfinal defeat to Novak Djokovic in Melbourne.

Sinner’s outstanding performance at the Australian Open, where he maintained a flawless record in his final three matches, has established him as a dominant figure in the tennis world. “Jannik is currently the best,” Alcaraz remarked, emphasizing Sinner’s consistent success, having suffered only a few losses over the past year. “He is winning every tournament he enters. His focus is unwavering, which makes him the best right now.”

Despite his own loss to Djokovic, Alcaraz remains hopeful. “I don’t see it as a missed chance against Novak,” he reflected. “I was eager to win the tournament and believed I could, but Novak delivered an incredible performance.”

Alcaraz is scheduled to compete against Dutch wild-card entrant Botic van de Zandschulp in his Rotterdam debut. Although his preparation was hindered by a cold, Alcaraz maintains a positive outlook about his time spent at home. “Being at home, even when you’re unwell, is always wonderful, especially with family around. It helps you recharge mentally for travel,” he explained.

Looking ahead to his upcoming match, Alcaraz acknowledged the challenge posed by Van de Zandschulp, who previously bested him at the US Open. “He’s a very tough competitor,” Alcaraz noted. “The crowd might not be on my side, but I will relish the experience.”
