Carlos Alcaraz, one of the most prominent names in the tennis circuit, attributed his improved performance during the recent tournament to changes in his diet. Although he does not strictly follow a diet plan, these changes are said to have helped him a lot on the court.
Alcaraz likes sushi, and on the eve of a match, he’d fish for dinner. The day of the competition, he prefers a gluten-free mixed pasta; a combination of gluten and non-gluten pasta, with an exotic cocoa cream called Ambrosia, made of dates and olive oil.
Jorge Moreno, the physiotherapist, plays a huge role in giving nutritional advice and conducting research to adjust Alcaraz’s diet. A couple of years back, a blood test made his physiotherapist advise him to go on a gluten-free diet to help his sport.
In a statement regarding the forthcoming Nitto ATP Finals where Alcaraz will be making his second appearance, he completely agrees about this dietary change being beneficial for him. “I don’t follow a diet as such, but I try to take care of myself. I eat anything I want. If anything good turns my way, I gladly take it,” said Alcaraz a few days back.
Alcaraz’s Remarkable 2024 Season
As of now, carrying the no.2 rank, Alcaraz has really had a fabulous season. Although he went down recently to Tomas Machac at the Shanghai semifinals, he still has a remarkable record of 51-10 for the year. The Spanish talent has already bagged titles at major events including the Indian Wells, French Open, Wimbledon, and Beijing and was a runner-up at the event held in Paris.
In this case, Alcaraz is preparing to contend against world no. 367 Gabi Adrian Boitan for the first time on the ATP tour. Alcaraz can count 17 overall titles on all surfaces, a number that continues to drive home for him what a serious contender he has become.
He is also scheduled to compete at the Rolex Paris Masters, which will commence on October 28th with the main draw. As Alcaraz prepares for his upcoming travails, controlling his diet remains very important for him as it reflects on his success story.
